IELTS Speaking mock-test questions - 4
You may wonder how a full-set of speaking questions in IELTS would look like. Here is an example. There are three parts in the speaking Test. On the whole your interview will last for 11-14 min.
1. Ice-Breaking / Warm up / Introduction
- Could you tell me your full name please?
- How may I call you?
- Do you have a hobby?
- What do you do during your leisure time?
- Do you play sports?
- Have you learnt to play any sport when you were young?
- Do you think schools should teach children how to play sports?
- Can anyone learn to play sports without being trained by a sports teacher?
- Can sports be taken as a profession?
- What is the scope for sports players in your country?
- Are all sports professionals rich?
- Have you ever played sports for your school / college / district / state / country?
- Does this skill mean significant to you?
2. Long-Turn / Cue-Card
Describe someone who influenced you to buy something
You should also say:
- who the person was
- what he/she influenced you to buy
- when this happened
- did you find it useful or not? Why/ Why not?
Follow-up Questions:
- Do parents in your country often choose things for their children?
- Should children be given a chance to choose things for their own?
3. Two-way Discussion
You may get two rounds of topics in this part of the speaking test.
Purpose of festivals and celebrations
- Why do you think festivals are important events in the academic/working year?
- Would you agree that the true significance of festivals is often lost today?
- Is it good or bad, do you think?
- Do you think that new festivals will be introduced in the future? What kind?
Festivals and the media
- What role does the media play in festivals, do you think?
- Do you think it's good or bad to watch festivals on TV? Why?
- How may globalization affect different festivals around the world?
